Six months ago, CM had told representatives of village groups that he does not
need Goan votes. In this context, read this letter to editor in today's
Heraldo. CM's attempt to woo back Goan voters points to a mid-term assembly
election: http://www.oheraldo.in/newscategory/Letters/13

Non-Goans Haj pilgrims and CM
Haji Amanullah and residents of Monte Dongor and Davorlim, Margao
The statement of the Goa CM is really interesting, saying that it is not his
responsibility to provide food and accommodation to non-Goans and that the Haj
flights were meant for Goan Haj pilgrims. Does the CM forget that he is elected
by the migrant non-Goan Muslim votes? And after all, though they are non-Goans,
they are human beings. If that was the case, the chartered flights should not
have taken the bookings of non-Goan Hajis. The charter flight even if it has to
go empty, should take only Goans as per Chief Minister’s statement. Tourists
coming to Goa are all non-Goans. So, if they are stranded or they are in
trouble, does that mean the Government will not intervene?
If this had happened in any other state in India as rightly said by the Chief
Minister, the Haj committees of those states would have taken immediate action
and helped the stranded Haj pilgrims, but Goa Haj Committee is a creation of CM
for vote bank politics.
