“Goa Festival 2010” concludes in New Delhi
The gala event “Goa Fest -2010” held from 12th to 14th November 2010 at
Goa Sadan New Delhi by Goenkarancho Ekvot- registered organization of
Goans in Delhi, jointly with Department of tourism –Govt. of Goa
concluded with three day festive atmosphere.
The weekend had throngs of people, Goans, people from other states, and
international tourists enjoying Goa’s rich cultural heritage. Goan
cuisine was a major draw along with the live Goan band. Other
attractions were Goan processed foods as well as the cultural programmes
with song and folk dances, lucky draws – holiday’s packages to Goa
Tourism resorts in Goa.
The chief guest Kum. Selja, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Govt. of India
released the souvenir “Regional Plan 2021– Imagining Goa’s Future” and
the book on “coconut craft by Shri Lotlikar –National Awardee, was
released by Shri Digambar Kamat, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa. Shri
Luizinho Faleiro, Member CWC and N. Shivdas, President- Goa Konkani
Academy were the guests of Honour. The homage was paid to Shri
Ravindrabab Kelekar whose life time efforts to give the Goans an
identity with Konkani language were acknowledged.
Kum. Selja, in the inaugural speech stressed the need to solve the waste
management problems of Goa and Central Government’s support to control
it. Smt. Suman kurade-President Goenkarancho Ekvot while welcoming the
gathering emphasized the urgent need to notify the prepared draft on
“Regional Plan 2021” at the earliest as that was the only solution to
Goa’s all problems faced by the Goan people. The function concluded with
the vote of thanks by Shri Fr. Bento Rodrigues.
The festival attracted huge crowds during the weekend and the visitors
enjoyed delicious snacks along with the Sorpotel, Xacuti, Fish Curry,
and the Goan Music.
