Doha Goans Sports Club (DGSC) will hold “Goa Day” on November 19 by
presenting a variety of cultural programmes at Municipality Bldg conference

The evening promises to be an event full of entertainment; with traditional
Goan songs and dances from Goa, besides artists will depict the culture of
Goa while singing Mandos and Dulpods, which form an integral part of Goan
way of life, back home in Goa. The event will depict many Goan festivals
and customs.
Comedy skits will also be staged on the occasion.
The organizers, DGSC said there is no entry for the event and snacks and
refreshment will be served to the audience.
“Doha Goans Sports Club have extended an invitation to all Goans in Qatar
to attend this grand cultural event which promises to be an entertaining
event for the entire family,” saus the press release.
DGSC has also extended their invitation to Goans who wish to participate in
dancing/singing or wish to act, to contact any of the committee member and
register their interest as early as possible, before November 5.
World Goa Day is celebrated by designating a day specifically for Goans to
reflect on our Goan identity and to consider what being a Goan means to us
as well as to take pride in being Goan and to unite with Goans all over the
world, in solidarity, to celebrate Goa’s history, Konkani language, music,
cultural heritage and traditions,” said London-based Rene Baretto who was
the brainchild behind the start of the Goa day celebrations, which first
kicked off in 2000.
World Goa Day 2010 is being celebrated worldwide on 20th August, 2010, to
mark the historic inclusion of Konkani language in the VIIIth Schedule of
