Bulls slaughtered in open, Baina tense
Tension prevailed at Baina beach yesterday after Vasco police arrested 35
persons for butchering animals and rescued as many as 26 bulls. Police said
these animals were brought to Baina beach for slaughtering even as 87
animals were butchered there despite protests from residents, animal lovers
and the representatives of People for Animals. The animals were brought to
Baina beach in the morning as part of Bakri-Id celebrations, where animals
were sacrificed. [GT]
COMMENT: Here in the U.K. , increasingly we are dished up with halal meat,
whether we like it or not. Many Super Marts are purveyors of the stuff.
