I get this call from a long time friend of mine from Salcete.
"Hello Floriano" he says, "how're things, how's the party doing?"
"Hello dear" I say "nice to hear from you in a long time. What's cooking at
your end? - As for me, I couldn't have been better and more relaxed... with
my building having gotten the Occupancy Certificate which Dayanand Narvekar
tried hardest to stop and where he has to give me credit for sending him on
a wild goose chase ... the shit ultimately has hit him in his ugly face...

"Nice to hear all that" he said "By the way, do you read Herald?"
"I get all English language dailies" I said "but most of the time I do not
get time to go through them .. why are you asking?"
"There is a joker called Francis Rodrigues and he writes a humour column of
an on as 'Goan abroad' ... And in the 24/Nov edition he has belittled your
party some with a caption 'Putty Polly'tics!' " he said.
"Something like that never misses my hawkish eye" I said .. "Yes, I have
seen that .. and I have left Francis to look after the many Tics on his
Polly. :-)) "
"Are you not going to react to that slight?" he asked.
"No" I said. "These are not slights but these are actually commendations.
Does any one write about UGDP, MGP that way at all ? ... Congress they call
Ali Baba Chors. BJP the call Communal, NCP they call 'rolling stone party in
that it accommodated accomplished rolling stones like Trajan D'Mello and
Surendra Sirsat' who are known not to collect any moss. What else can they
call goasuraj?"
"But Floriano, this Charlie called you Flower'iano and your party
Su..su..su..raj and that is not fair" he said.
"Cool down will you" I said. " People have call this party with worst names
... like Gu-Raj, Sur Raj and more. But Su .su ..raj makes more sense and I
think I like it better"
"Come on Floriano, that is not the way the founding president of the party
must react. You must do something" he said.
"Now don't tell me you want turn in your life membership... are you" ... "
and yes, I shall do something if you like" I said
"That's better" he said " You are going to do something ... like what?" he
asked.
"You see dear" I said " I have been a sailor-boy for far too long. And out
at sea, when partying ( which was a regularly regular affair) we used to
sing the Jonhnny the sailor's ballad. I am going to do just that" I said
"You want to sing Johnny the sailor's ballad? Is that it? he asked aghast.
"No" I said. "I am going to stand on the steeple and piss on the people
like Johnny the sailor did. Hopefully some of it will fall on Francis
Rodrigues the joker from Toronto. Our Moira church boast of having the
highest steeple in Goa and the reason is that Moidekars made it grow by
burying a patmari load of 'tallehs' underneath it, a feat that no one has
been able to accomplish. That is why we are called Moidekars".
"I must say that you have a better sense of humour than this jackass called
Francis Rodrigues" he said "Why don't you give him some tuitions?"
"AAH" I said " I look at humour when it makes me laugh... that means that
the reader must burst out laughing. In Francis's case, it is the he himself
who bursts out laughing at his stupid jokes. That is why I normally do not
look twice at his pieces.. Hope he will improve with maturity"
"Tell me something, Floriano" said my friend "How come you gave such a funny
name to your party?. It is like asking for trouble, like in this case where
people make fun of it"
"Not at all" I said. " We deliberately named it so... so that we could pee
on all those people who continuously and regularly vote for the CONGRESS and
the BJP et al.
What better name than SU RAJ? That makes us professionals at peeing on
people who have no brains"
