Don Bosco Sulcorna Rector dismissed for gifting Salesian land to Timblos 2010-12-01
It is none other than Don Bosco’s the Salesian order in the limelight. It has been confirmed that orders have come this week from their headquarters in Rome to dismiss Rector Fr Lucas Mendonca from the order. Again this scam deals with the illegal sale of land. Mendonca was the Rector of the Sulcorna branch of Don Bosco’s. He was allegedly given power of attorney to handle Don Bosco’s substantial land holdings there. The Rector decided to “gift” the land to the Timblos for mining. His superiors complained to their headquarters in Rome and Rome dismissed him ordering Mendonca to reverse the process and get the land back to the Salesian Order. It turns that is not going to happen anytime soon. The Salesians we hear, approached the Timblos who said that they were willing to return the land provided the Rs 50 crore they allegedly paid to the priest is returned to them. The priest is now out of the Order and living in Quepem with his family. There are so many elements in this story that shock and awe. That private forest land is sold by a member of the Church. That it is sold illegally. That it is sold to a mining company. That it was transferred as a gift to the Timblos. That the allegations go that Timblos paid Rs 50 crore to the priest, for which there is no formal record. It is also about 14 kms from the Netravali wildlife sanctuary, but beyond the mandatory 5 km. The Salesians have themselves to blame. Why give the rector power of attorney to sell or gift the land? Secondly one hears this same gentleman got them into an embarrassing mess at their Odxel property. The unconfirmed story goes that the Salesians at Odxel were having problems with a mundkar who refused to leave. Lucas Mendonca in his wisdom, the story continues, hired the services of a lawyer to remove the mundkar. The result? The lawyer has built a bungalow for himself on their land and sends goons to threaten the Salesians. Now, they have to contend with the mundkar, the lawyer and goons. *TARGET GOA *contacted Fomento's but Auduth Timblo was out of town and will be out of town for the next 15 days. An office staff member however said it may not be Fomento's, it may be another branch of the Timblo family which is also into mining. We have emailed Auduth Timblo for his clarification on the matter. http://www.targetgoa.com/newsd-Don-Bosco-Sulcorna-Rector-dismissed-for-gifting-Salesian-land-to-Timblos-1486 -- DEV BOREM KORUM Gabe Menezes.
