A man who worked with different religious faiths, he is a role-model for inter-faith peace and justice. In 2010, the Vatican was petitioned (including 1,200+ signatures) by the Joseph Naik Vaz Institute to canonize Blessed Vaz. We are hopeful that the heroic efforts of Filomena Sarawati Giese, who single-handedly has promoted his cause for the past 30+ years, will be successful and Blessed Vaz will be canonized this year. Her determined efforts against various odds may result in a 2011 canonization. Goans owe her a debt of gratitude for her perseverance and service towards a great Goan.
