The Konkanni Cultural & Heritage Inc. celebrated their first Gala of the Carnival Dance 2011 with a smashing success. The first ever Viva Carnival Dance 2011 which was celebrated with much pomp and splendor was hosted on February 26, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church Hall, Oakleigh, Victoria.

Keeping with the theme of the night, the guests were dressed in their best finery in the colours of Red and Black while the hall also was decorated Red & Black which gave the event its festive ambience.

The crowd welcomed the Carnival Float with a lot of thrill and excitement. King Momo(Brian D'souza) entered the hall with great gusto. The packed hall cheered King Momo and his troupe which included the Kunbi, Karvi, Goa & the Mando(Corrindinho) clan. King Momo opened the Carnival celebrations and thanked all the people for their support and enthusiasm.

Melbourne's most famous Band Codamix & Amor Sound & Event Managements played an assortment of music which kept the crowd on the dance floor throughout the night. The Band rendered 'SWEET MELODIES' of old songs through Grenvil and Glaxton and also surprised the crowd by singing a Konkani song "Goa Amchea".

The Master of ceremonies for the evening, a renowned compere, Edwin Braganza welcomed the guests and kept them entertained throughout. To add to the Goan flavour for the evening, Melbourne's well know Goan caterers Llewjini's served mouth watering dishes. Marianne Lourdes, Chrystal Fernandes, Solicitor Vernon Da Gama and well know Melbourne's personalities Jerry Dcosta and Vernon Franklin gave away the Novelty (sponsored by Maharajas Wok) and numerous door prizes.

The organisers Mario, Cherylanne(Chinky), Jude, Sarojini, Simon, Nancy, Titus, Ursla, Royden, Lidia, Vernon & Corryne thanked each and every one involved in making the event such a smashing success.
