Museum Explorations This Summer Bookworm welcomes children between the ages of 6 – 13 years to explore 3 different Museums with team Bookworm. Visit 1: Tuesday 5th April : Visit to Museum of Christian Art – Old Goa Explore art in many forms – woodwork, metal, sculptures, painting, tapestry, needle craft and designs and craftsmanship that is over 300 years old!
During our visit to the Museum we will imagine and work as a group and individually on developing through art, a picture or series of pictures that tell our own story imagined from a 18th Century polychrome and gilt wood sculpture of a angel candle holder. Visit 2: Thursday 7th April : Goa State Museum – Patto Explore the galleries of the Goa State Museum to generate a map of the museum . During our visit we will transport ourselves back in time within the Printing Gallery. We will listen and learn about different types of printing, the story of how the printing press first came to Goa and work at printing a page using letter press and other forms of printing to create something new that looks old. Visit 3: Saturday 9th April : Customs and Excise Museum, Panjim Explore the items that have been confiscated from smugglers all over India. Learn about their creative ways of smuggling goods out of the country. Observe the structures of Custom Offices all over India and particularly the images of the Panjim Cutom House and its restoration. Listen to a story about smugglers, within the Battle of Wits gallery of the museum and imagine how it will end. All material and transportation provided. Seats limited. Call Bookworm to register.
