Folks, One of the differences between living in Canada and the USA is that in the USA people are more inclined to have larger celebrations in the park. In Canada, I think casual street parties are more common. This way you really get to meet and know your neighbours. On my street, there are five Goan families within a distance of two football fields. Even the preparation of organizing a street party leads to new acquaintances and introductions to an as diversified population as bagpipe players as well as German ompa pa band specialists.
