Gallery Gitanjali and Apurva Kulkarni invite you to Chitrangan - a courtyard that will nurture your creativity leading to artistic self-discovery as limitless as the sky.

Orchestrated as a series of workshops Chitrangan is a course in the fundamentals of drawing meant for anyone who aspires to be creative. Designed for those with little or no drawing experience the course will include written and verbal instructions, demonstrations by established artists, slideshows and intensive feedback and analyses of artworks.

Chitrangan's unique methods of instruction will initiate the participants to create a series of drawing exercises and experiments, inducing in the process, a certain way of seeing. These initiations will include an array of exercises: right from the basics of making marks to the creation of mixed media drawings; from traditional and modernist to post-modernist and conceptual methods.

In addition, detailed demonstrations by artists as diverse as Norman Tagore, Praveen Naik , Vasudev Shetye and Wilson D'Souza will be an inherent part of the course. To be held on weekends spread over a few months Chitrangan will propel you on a stimulating journey into the heart of your artistic self.. Conceived by artist and art historian Apurva Kulkarni and assisted by established younger artists Norman Tagore, Praveen Naik and Vasudev Shetye, Chitrangan is a revolutionary course supported by Shaistah Thapar, one of the foremost collectors of art in Goa.

You are invited to the opening session of Chitrangan on 9th July at 6.30 pm featuring a brief illustrated talk on drawing, a demonstration of drawing by Norman Tagore and an informal display of sketches, studies and drawings - old and new, by Charudutta Prabhudesai, Rajeshree Thakker, Wilson D'Souza, Praveen Naik, Vasudev Shetye, Norman Tagore and Apurva Kulkarni.
