The PWD has been regularly accused of failing to provide regular water
supply, but at the Bicholim fish market it is just the other opposite.
According to sources, a tap at the Bicholim fish market is running
continuously without being noticed by the PWD or Bicholim Municipal Council
(BMC).
“The broken tap supplies water continuously from 8 am to 4 pm,” Samresh
Kanekar told Herald.
It is surprising to note that the tap hardly goes dry and this is going on
since the last two months.
“I’m a frequent visitor to the market and since the last two months, the tap
is flowing without anyone noticing it. Neither the PWD nor BMC is concerned
about it and thousands litres of water has already been wasted,” added
Kanekar.
As the water is flowing continuously, buckets are kept under it.
“It is sad that the government officers are unaware of the situation and it
is high time that something should be done in the matter as this water might
also give rise to mosquito breeding site,” Kanekar said.
