Pandu Lampiao <pan...@gmail.com> >>>>Aye Joe-Utorda, Was his patient mostly in the month of April-May. Thankfully, he never pulled out his 'in-jesao'....... truncated.......... Though I must confess, what worked was likely 'cus-ment' made of od-osha panna (a plant with small white flowers)!<<<<<< -- Let me share a small chance meeting that I had with Dr. Barbosa..
I was in New Delhi attending a training course and the evenings were mostly free. So I did as all visitors to Delhi do, go shopping around. In Palika Bazaar, the underground shopping place in Connaught Place, as a friend and I were going round the many circular arcades of the Palika Bazaar, we saw Dr. Barbosa and the then Director of Tourism (his name eludes me). There was no security, no flashing lights, no sirens for the then CM of Goa. I realized that in New Delhi, he was just an aam aadmi as any one of us. When we approached him, I said in Konkani, "Dotor, kitem tum bazaar korunc ailai?" At this he turned to me and said, "Kon re to Goenkar muje kodde amche bhashen uloitai?" So we introduced ourselves. Immediately he expressed concern because we were not wearing warm wear. When I told him, I wasn't feeling cold, his reply was that if I did get a lung infection, I would have to take penicillin injections. He then gave us his visiting card and signed them on the back and told us to meet him if we ever needed anything. Neither my friend nor I found occasion to use the card. Just a brush with the man. . * **"Tony de Sa" * *< tonydesa at gmail dot com > *
