Thank you Adieus Dr. Barbosa Dr. Barbosa a popular figure of Goa and a loving Doctor for the villagers of Velsao, Cansaulin, Arrosim, Utorda, Majorda and Verna. We All agree that he was a people's person and was an able leader of the masses. He was a simple and down to earth human, humble, modest gentle man and strong personality. I knew Dr. Barbosa from my childhood. He was our family doctor and since our childhood, we were under his care. I still remember his Honda motor bike and his Black medical bag which he used to carry when he was called for medical visit. Whenever a member of my family or neighbour was sick, we used to run even late night to his house in Cansaulim to call him for a medecial visit. When we reached to his house we called him in a loud voice or knocked at his door to wake him up.." Oho Dotor mozi Main bori Na". "Matche upkar korun vegin yoo". He immediately without hesitating opened the door and requested us to go home and he would follow. When we knew that he is approaching our house for consultation, we ran to him and first thing we did was to carry his black medical bag. When he entered our house, he uttered reassurance soothing words " Beinaka go tica kain zauche na" He never insisted on his consultation fees and he would say "tuka zaite digo tuchem lagin poixe asat zalar". He was a good-samarithan. So was Dr. Barbosa always faithful to his mission as a Doctor. Dr. Barbosa was cultured politician known for his frank parler, a great orator and a fantastic toastmaster. He found laughter where there was sadness and offered solace where he could. He displayed humour, joie de vivre throughout his career as a MLA, Minister, CM and a speaker. He was a true Goan at heart, and associate of Dr Jack de Sequeira who fought for the opinion poll. He helped and inspired many people and worked for a change in Goa. I was told that Dr. Barbosa patronized Velsao Beach. He regularly frequented Velsao beach for his regular everyday walk. In April this year I was fortunate to meet him for the last time on the Velsao beach and we had a great talk on various subjects. He had a very sharp memory for his age and could recall all the episodes and incidence of his life and career. Dr. Barbosa will be remembered as a man of integrity, of honour and Good Samaritan Doctor. I will always remember Dr. Barbosa, He once took me with him in the Goa legislative Assembly to witness the proceeding of the assembly during my youth days. His passing brings sadness but we must not let grief deny us the joy that came from knowing Dr BARBOSA. Let us come to accept that his work on earth was done. We will think of him with joy, and give thanks that we shared this time with him. We pray for his family members who are facing the most difficult times of their lives. May God give them Courage & resilience. I pray to god to rest the holy soul. May his soul rest in peace. Bruno Gomes Switzerland
