The Committee will inspect the remaining 24 establishments on Tuesday to ascertain whether they have complied with the Goa State Pollution Control Board directions on sewage and waste water treatment. After the inspection, Deputy Collector, Margao Dasharath Redkar told newsmen that a final decision against the six establishments will be taken once the Goa State Pollution Control Board compiles a report on today’s inspection. “ Action as per law will be initiated against the establishments once the GSPCB compiles a report on the inspections”, he said. Saying that some of the establishments have not adhered to the directions, Redkar warned that the authorities will have no option than to close down the establishments if they fail to adhere to directions. The High court in a petition filed by the Colva Civic and Consumer Forum had directed the GSPCB and the dis- Members of the Joint inspection trict Collector, South to hold a joint inspection of the hotels to whom notices and directions were issued by the Board and to verify whether the directions issued by the Board have been complied with or not. The Court had also directed the Collector to take appropriate steps to ensure that the functioning of the defaulting hotels is stopped forthwith if they fail to comply with directions. -- Please post your comments on my Blog: http://goanidentity.blogspot.com/ Please also see below: 1.
