China in 1900. A bilingual work written in Portuguese and English it reports on
the history of Portuguese trade with China. The primary focus is on the people
and institutions which ordered the porcelains.
Lavishly illustrated and priced accordingly, the target audience is curators of
museums, art historians, dealers and auction houses.
It is unlikely that this specialist work will attract the attention of the
average Goan reader. But who knows! Somewhere in the midst of the 310 pages and
199 illustrations there could be a name or sepia print which could lead to a
frantic hunt for a long forgotten ancestors whose rightful place belongs
alongside recently reincarnated Goan icons.
