Goa carbon Limited Brand ambassador and Asian Junior Girls Champion Bhakti Kulkarni bagged second prize in Junior Category among the distinguished International participants in the Vizag International Grandmasters Chess Tournament concluded in Visakhapatnam today.

National Champion and Grandmaster Abhijit Gupta won the Tournament despite losing the final round to Armenian Grandmaster Tigran Petrosian while GM Glizerov of Russia stood second.

Bhakti got a commanding position against International Master PDS Girinath who offered a draw to the Goan lass. However Bhakti refused to agree to the peace proposal and kept on fighting for higher placing. Though she lost the battle played till the end but was rewarded with a second prize in Juniors behind International Master Ankit Rajpara.

Bhakti was unrepentant for her risky decision."This was my last tournament of the year and I wanted to finish on winning note. But I have finished ahead of so many seniors like Women Grandmasters S.Vijayalakshmi,WGM Eesha karvade,WGM Kiran Mohanti etc. I am happy that I stood second among both boys and girls.

Grandmaster and former World Championship Candidate Gyula Sax has invited Bhakti for a special training session to Hungary during Xmas holidays and then she will participate in the Prague Open and Merienbad Open (both Czech Republic) in January,2012. She has also confirmed her participation in the Indian Team playing in the Aeroflot Open,Moscow in February,2012.

The Goan girl is also a member of National Team Championship Gold Medallist Team of Air India who take care of her travels within India.
