KODEL, KUTRE ANI KINETIC .... On the 16th of December, 2011 just before the beginning of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Goa’s liberation, Gallery Gitanjali invites you to engage with a ‘happening’.
Created by Manjunaath Naik and Osborne Carvalho and conceptualised and curated by Miriam Koshy- Sukhija, “ Kodel, Kutre ani Kinetic” integrates sculpture, video, street art and performance into a searing multimedia happening. What is a Happening? It is an art form in which an action is extracted from the environment, replacing the traditional art object with a performative gesture born out of everyday life. It operates by creating an asymmetrical network of surprises without consummation following the logic of dreams. It walks the tightrope between drama and visual art inviting a strong participative response. *The aim of the integration of the art object with spectator participation is to elicit a response from them and to ensure that the engagement continues beyond the art space.* **** The scene for this happening involves four elements: · 'Kodel' made by Manjunaath Naik and played to a subversion of ‘4-33’ a music piece by avant garde composer John Cage, · 'Wag the Dog' created by Osborne Carvalho with the bones of Vice & Virtue, · A video installation juxtaposed between street art created by them and · An art performance involving a beat up old Kinetic, all in a little bylane of Fontainhas leading to Gallery Gitanjali, Panjim Pousada . The Happening is planned for the 16th of December, 2011 between 4:00 and 6:30pm.
