Goa Sudharop is pleased and honoured to have renowned and well-known Goan
environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar (MA in History and Sociology) join as a
Trustee in Goa. He is actively involved in anti-mining issues, is spearheading
the initiative for a Tiger Reserve in Goa (to protect the approximately 11
tigers left in Goa's forests) and is in the forefront of many sustainable
development issues in Goa.
He has an impressive resume as General Secretary of the Mhadei Bachao Abhiyan,
State Convenor of the Goa River Conservation Network, WWF Executive Council
member, besides playing an active role in several other environmental bodies.
He has written extensively on environmental and related issues and has won
awards for his work on conservation and education. He has given lectures in Goa
spreading the word on protecting the environment and has initiated a movement
to win legal protection to eco-sensitive areas in the Western Ghats.
