To Goanet - There is chatter in Panjim that the Herald knew about the report concerning Monserrate and Suryanarayana, the one that was eventually published by Devika Sequeira in Deccan Herald.
Is this true? If it is, will all the Goan columnists of Herald, such as Oscar Rebello and others, demand an explanation from the editor? And if none if forthcoming, are they prepared to take on the media corruption in the state? For that matter, has any other Goan paper reported this news? Some time back Ms Sequeira also brought to light the blackmail of Goa's Chief Minister by Tehelka's Tejpal. That story went down a black hole like every other scandal in Goa/India. How come Goan patracars had NOTHING to say on these stories? Now regarding Suryanarayana - here is a bhaillo who pitches his tent in Goa and starts selling off chunks of Goan land to sharks all over the country and outside of it (with generous support of some Goan scum). I have observed these leeches ever since I was young. In those days, the spoils of loot were petty by today's standards. But the cultural dynamics haven't changed a bit. Any outsider can walk into Goa and lord it over, no questions asked. No Goan would be tolerated doing the same in Suryanarayana's home state of Andhra Pradesh. And as I wrote in my earlier post, there are many Suryanarayans in today's Goa. r --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Protect Goa's natural beauty Support Goa's first Tiger Reserve Sign the petition at: http://www.goanet.org/petition/petition.php ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
