It is hardly surprising that the Moti Dongor demolitions have agitated Francisco Sardinha. After all, it is in a manner of speaking, demolition of a carefully cultivated Congress vote bank. These allegedly illegal encroachments on public and communidade land took place on the Congress government’s watch. As Mr. Sardinha and GPCC Minority department convenor Mr. Pathan have rightly pointed out, the affected people will be hard hit by the onset of the monsoons. Therefore, it is only fair and just that they be accommodated on the vast and extensive properties allegedly amassed by the Congress party satraps during their long and merry reign over the Goan bureaucrats and masses. And since Mr. Pathan has practically admitted that the “so called illegal” has been converted into legal by concerned authorities, it is only right for us Goans to demand that that all these water and power connections, ration and voter cards etc. be investigated and cancelled forthwith by the present government as a first step towards bringing back the rule of law in the state. Mr. Sardinha and Mr. Pathan have now made it abundantly clear who their party is and has been actually representing in the past.

And if the Congress government let the bureaucrats run amuck by “turning a blind eye to the structures during their tenure”, then Sardinha is only admitting what the Goan voters rightly understood this last Assembly elections - that the Congress party does not and never did have what it takes to govern and administer Goa. For bureaucrats who grovel at the feet of their political masters, the attitude of Sardinha and Pathan in throwing all culpability on them, should serve as a grim lesson that they should build their careers on the strong foundations of duty, honesty, integrity and sincere service rather than sycophancy and characterless boot licking.
