The YOUTH WING of the Goa Su-Raj Party has an interaction with the print and electronic media at the Party's Office at Mapusa yesterday evening with the following press release:

YOUTH WING - GSRP
PRESS RELEASE:

1. On Ram Sena: Intending to set shop in GOA.
2. On Mopa Airport: Goa does not require another airport.
3. On Mining: All said and done, Goa ultimately has, as according to our IIT'an CM, ' Illegal Legal Mines???

1. Ram Sena :
It cannot set shop in Goa by virtue of it being against Western Culture. Goa is imbedded in Western Culture for the past 501 years . 451 of those years with the Portuguese in Goa. Goans do not need moral police such as Pramod Mutalik to set things right for Goans. The Government of Goa under CM Manohar Parrikar must see that Mutalik and his communal ilk does not set foot on Goan Soil. Assurances given by CM Manohar Parrikar have no worth with reference to (1) Attack by the BJP Goons (including it's catholic Law Minister) on Hotel Mandarin in Mapusa during the earlier short BJP rule in Goa. (2) Attack on the convoy of the Governor of Goa outside the Raj Bhavan.

GSRP Youth requests CM Manohar Parrikar to thread carefully w.r.t. Ram Sena setting shop in Goa. The Goan youth do not want such a vile - communal organization in Goa. The Government of Goa under CM Manohar Parrikar shall be solely responsible for the after effects if Ram Sena is welcomed in Goa. We, the youth of Goa prevail on CM Manohar Parrikar to heed to the age old adage : "Prevention is better than cure". The Central Government has nothing to do with what Goans want and do not want. For Goans, it is enough that there is a GOACENTRIC government ruling in Goa.

W.r.t. Congress Youth wing leader Ms. Pratima Coutinho welcoming Mutalik as a Goan guest to holiday in Goa, we the GSRP youth do not want to see Mutalik in Goa even if his life depended upon it. It is plain and simple. GOA IS OUT OF BOUND FOR MUTALIKS OF THE REST OF INDIA.' We shall take care of ourselves and do not need no Mutaliks to help us on this account.

2. Mopa Airport:
Goa does not need another airport. Dabolim, which is centrally located, is just fine. Let the Navy move out from Dabolim. Someone has to tell the Navy to move out. If Goa's government does not have the courage to do so, then the Goan youth who are against setting up of MOPA will give a good doze of courage to the Governemnt of Goa in time to come. We, the Goan youth do not want GOA to be yet merged with Maharashtra through the back door. We shall not allow it at all costs.

3. GOA's MINING:
The GSRP Youth is flabbergasted at the way our esteem Goa's CM has flip-flopped on illegal mines in Goa. It is a fact that he himself has been hollering that 30 per cent of Goa's mines are illegal, not having the required 'environment clearances' when he was the leader of the Opposition. At that time , Mr. Manohar Parrikar was holding the then CM Mr. Digamber Kamat responsible for the illegal mines blatantly operating in Goa.. Today we hear from the mouth of the same erstwhile Opposition Leader that there are no illegal mines in Goa, only illegal ore. This is only possible if Goa has 'Illegal Legal Mines' HOW COME, MR. CHIEF MINISTER???

Our Party's stand is that Goa's mineral wealth is the gift of Providence to Goa and Goans. If it's extraction does not benefit Goa and Goans, and if, on the contrary, Goa's forest cover is decimated, it's wild life displaced, water resources dried up and polluted, agricultural fields silted with mineral reject wash, rivers polluted and silted, people suffer from tuberculosis through inhaling of dust, youth crushed under the wheels of the mining trucks, people cannot live through noise pollution generated, then let these mineral resources lie buried and untouched whether the Goa government or the Central government likes it or not.

The youth of Goa want a total ban on the mining activity till such time as a comprehensive mining policy is put in place with the interaction of the people of Goa for a sustained and orderly mining industry which will benefit Goa and Goans and not a handful few mine owners and the Central government. Goa is for Goans and we the youth of Goa will see to it that this comes about.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. WE, THE YOUTH OF GOA ARE NOT READY TO BE FOOLED ALL THE TIME BY DEVIOUS SELF-AGRANDIZING POLITICAL SCHEMING.
