*TAG’s Somplolea Tiatristancho Ugddas* Tiatr Academy Goa organizes a monthly programme dedicated to tiatr artistes of yester years who are no more living with us. These artistes have contributed a lot for the development of tiatr, its song and music. Those veteran tiatr artistes who were born in the month of August, they will be remembered with a special programme to be organized by Tiatr Academy Goa on Tuesday, 21st August 2012 at 4:45 pm. at TAG’s Conference Hall, Campal Trade Centre, Campal Panjim. The artistes who were born in the month of August and will be remembered are Saib Rocha, C.Alvares, Minguel Rod, Alfred Rose, Felicio Cardozo, Francisco Antonio Fernandes, Rosary Ferns, Mateus A. Pereira and Niclau Xavier Fernandes. Some of these like Saib Rocha, C. Alvares, Minguel Rod have contributed immensely to the tiatr, its song and music. Saib Rocha one of the greatest writers and directors of Konkani tiatr stage was one of the few artistes who contributed to the development of tiatr stage along with Pai Tiatrist Shri. Joao Agostinho Fernandes. ‘Ace Director of Konkani Stage’ C. Alvares was also known as ‘King of Duets’. Minguel Rod the greatest all rounder of tiatr stage achieved huge success during the very short life span of 31 years only. Alfred Rose is known to his fans in different names such as ‘Golden Voice of Goa’, ‘Melody King’, etc. He was not only a writer, lyricist and singer but also an excellent musician. Rosary Ferns a prominent personality of tiatr stage was very much instrumental in promoting Goan tiatr in the Gulf especially in Kuwait where he was employed. Antonio Mateus Pereira, who was known as Mathew Perry to his fans was a good singer, actor and writer of Tiatr stage. A freedom fighter, a journalist and a tiatr artiste Felicio Cardozo wrote and staged many tiatrs. Francis Antonio Fernandes a musician of tiatr stage was an excellent drummer whose drumming abilities helped in the improvement of the quality of music. Niclau Xavier Fernandes was an excellent writer, director, actor and singer of the tiatr stage. Well known tiatr personalities Shri. Tomazinho Cardozo and Shri. Joe Rose will speak on the lives and works of these artistes for the development of tiatr stage. Besides this well known tiatr artistes will present some songs of these late artistes.
