This Oheraldo report today where a Cancer Hospital is pitted against a 5 Star Hotel in Merces, is just an example of construction madness in Goa, to satisfy the enormous greed of the real estate lobby.
Goans are really losing their sanity on what's important. Our villages for instance, are heating up because we are allowing the real estate lobby to go on rampage, by creating so many apartment complexes way beyond the housing need of Goans; so as to sell to outsiders to the detriment of Goan Environment. Then you have NRI Goans and Indians buying for real estate investment!! It is high time we stop this Construction Madness. If the builders, real estate agents, land sharks feel it is their right to amass huge money so as to buy massage their extravagant lifestyles, then the Goan Majority has the right to a cleaner environment, less traffic/air pollution, less water/land pollution and healthier lifestyles. Do let's us please decide which is the higher priority, In my opinion its just common sense which Goans generally appear to have lost!! Arwin Mesquita. </div>
