More than 3 decades ago when Portugal signed the infamous treaty of GDD handover while Goan people were sleeping. I think this time around Goan people must sit at every meeting etc between these two countries to see what is being discussed. Secondly a strong call for an annulment of the handover treaty should also be on the agenda. BC Portuguese Foreign Minister to visit India
New Delhi, Mar 2 : Portugese Foreign Minister Paulo de Sacadura Cabral Portas will be on an official visit to India from Mar 3 to Mar 7, said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday. This would be his first visit to India. "Minister Portas will be accompanied by H.E. Mr. Jorge Barreto Xavier, Hon'ble Minister of State for Culture of Portugal and a business delegation," said the MEA. The Portuguese Foreign Minister along with his delegation will also visit Mumbai and Goa. During his stay in New Delhi, the Foreign Minister will hold talks with External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid. Both sides will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest. "A number of other engagements are envisaged during the visit," said the MEA. "India and Portugal share a warm and friendly bilateral relationship. Portugal is home to the third largest population of people of Indian origin in Europe. The two countries share common perspectives on a wide variety of issues in the global arena. The visit would strengthen the existing friendly ties and provide a filling to bilateral cooperation especially in the economic and cultural arena," the ,ministry said.
