Dear All

Goa Book Club started discussing Konkani Story Flash Fiction and as a
result of that discussion we decided to have, as Jose Lourenco announced "A
One-Hour Freestyle Open Unconference on Konkani" which we called Mogacho
Maand: Konknnicho Avaz from 4 pm on Thursday, 18 April at the hall of the
Dempo BBA campus in the Massano de Amorim building, next to the Cine
National Theatre. The entrance is diagonally opposite to Texas Restaurant
on one side and Ritz Classic on the other. The hall can seat about 50
persons. Some of us are carrying snacks and soft drinks, but feel free to
bring some along too. The program will be held in association with Dempo
College's HIMKO (Hindi, Marathi & Konkani) Club.

The idea is to listen to the varied voices, accents and dialects of
Konkani. Participants are invited to bring along a very short story or poem
or folktale or novel excerpt and read it out (in a dull monotone, or a
dramatic act or something in between). Each person gets 5 minutes, extended
to 7 minutes if needed. We finish in one hour, extended to one and half
hour if the mood takes us. No political discussions, no polemics, unless in
good humour and in good taste. Just the piece and perhaps 2 minutes of
discussion soon after the piece is read. Jose Lourenco will moderate. We
can read texts read out in Bardezi, Sashtti, Antruzi, Pednem, Canconn,
Mangluri, Keralli and other dialects and have a great time. Get along any
friend or acquaintance who may have a unique Konkani voice, we want to hear
it."

Please forward this mail to whoever you think would be interested in
attending the programme. An invitation is attached.
