Christanity is how we behave with out fellow human beings, be good and kind to the less fortunate. Visit the sick and old. Once at a mass a priest mentioned Israel as a Catholic State. When I confronted him and said it was a 'Jewish State' he was upset with me. Another priest says 'don 't be like Hindus and follow a caste system'.
COMMENT: Somehow, perhaps by coincidence, I have never come across Roman Catholic priests like the ones Ana Maria Fernandes and Ana Maria de Souza-Goswami have referred to. This is not to state they do not exist, merely to state that I have not come across them. It is also not my practice to argue with priests about what they preach. Not all of them are well versed in many disciplines, and many (like us) make errors which are tangential to Christian (Christ like) life. Ana Maria de Souza-Goswami is spot on when she describes what the practice of Christianity entails. My views exactly. Where I can differ from her is on the topic of Israel. As stated (supra), the priest is accurate. For, while it would be wildly inaccurate to state that Israel is a Roman Catholic state, it is quite appropriate to state that the State of Israel is 'Catholic'. That is why Jews from all over the world consider Israel ..."home". On the topic of the 'Caste System', I would have been more direct and advised Christians and/or others in the audience/congregation and said that 'Those who claim to be Roman Catholics but who practice the Caste System, are not Christians'. http://www.colaco.net/1/caste.htm with the best of wishes to all jc
