They have no right to DEMAND donations. c: Surendra Furtado said " if the association was collecting money for development of the area, then the Corporation of the City of Panaji would stop carrying out any development in the area. "I will not send sweepers to the area," d: a: Cleofato Coutinho said "Upkeep of the area is the job of the local municipal council," COMMENT: Dears, I find the above (cherry picked by me) quotes quite fascinating. Assuming that the said gentlemen have been quoted accurately and 'in context', I ask the following questions, purely from the basis on non-knowledge. re c: Is Mr. Furtado effectively stating that CCP will no longer collect taxes from residents in the area concerned? Or is he stating that the CCP will collect the taxes but not provide the services for which the taxes are collected? What if the Association had a fund raiser for 'development'? re c: One will have to wonder if the statement "I will not send sweepers to the area," befits a mayor of the once beautiful city of Panjim? Is "sending or not sending" sweepers the function of a mayor? re a: If (say) the association's PERMISSION is sought, can the association not expect 'contributions' for the timely restoration of 'after the film shoot'? re a: And while it is true that '"Upkeep of the area is the job of the local municipal council,', What happens if this does not happen in a timely fashion ....or not appropriately at all? re b: Mr. Kaunsar is absolutely right about "DEMANDING DONATIONS" - an oxymoron. Demanding donations is extortion. re b: Could the association have DENIED PERMISSION? re b: I agree with the statement: "giving of a receipt doesn't make the DONATIONS legal". Could the Association have acted like the political outfits which "Invite" Donations for which there may or may not be an issued receipts? Jusht only asking. jc ps: Is there more than a tinge of turmeric in the 'selective' postings that appear here?
