I really sympathize for the misfortune you had during your childhood days. There are many who still have to go on hungry stomach. Mathew 5 : 1-13 says, "Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God" Do not have a grudge against those who just look for an excuse to enjoy and make merry in this life. Look at the many good people around who still love their neighbours and lend a helping hand in every way possible.
It is not only the duty of the Church but also we as Christians to educate our fellow brethren who still are ignorant in their faith or I can say do not practice their faith according to the word of God. Goans, specially in Salcette, I find, show an attitude of, " I am well off than him". And ultimately squander their hard earned wealth. They surely would have saved a lot for their future. I praise and thank God Almighty for bringing us out of poverty. We were helped by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and our neighbours in Bombay. Now being my turn, I joyfully lend a helping hand in any way possible to the one I see in need. I always remember a hymn from my childhood, " I have decided to follow Jesus.. though none go with me still I will follow.. no turning back, no turning back." Do your best and God will take care of the rest. Peace be with you
