An open letter to His Holiness, Pope Francis
WISHING YOUR HOLINESS WELCOME TO GOA & INDIA

Stockholm, April 11, 1013

To Our Holy Father,
HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS,
Apostolic Palace
00120 Vatican City.

Your Holiness,

I am Alfred de Tavares, an Indian journalist (from Goa) based since four
decades in
Stockholm, Sweden.

I have covered news from all Scandinavia for the Indo-Asian News Service, IANS,
the
largest independent news service operating from Delhi, India

We, in Goa are extremely overjoyed with the news that Your Holiness may visit
Goa
to pay Your respects to the glorious Jesuit, Saint Francis Xavier, the Patron
of Goa, at
the next exposition of His Holy Relics, in December, 2013.

May the good Lord, through the miraculous intercession of Saint Francis Xavier,
grant
our wishes.

Your Holiness, please allow me to make a great and humble wish.

Since Your Holiness has accended the throne of Saint Peter, Your reign has been
uniquely
marked by the symbols of humanity, poverty, humility and simplicity.

Hence, You Holiness, with all due respect, humility and love, I take the
liberty to propose
that, during Your visit to India, Your Holiness, deigns to use for Your local
transportation,
the worthy Indian-made peoples' car, NANO, that personifies economy, efficiency
as well as
environmental requisites to the maximum desired degree hitherto.

It is the world's cheapest made personal car and gives the most distance per
litre as well as
the least detrimental emissions.

If Your Holiness accedes to this proposal I am sure that the prestigious Indian
global industrial
conglomerate, TATA's, the maker of the car, and their emeritus Chairman, Dr
Ratan Tata, will,
most happily, oblige by providing the reqired additional alterations to render
their product a
most worthy PAPAMOBILE.

And, just one more suggestion Your Holiness:

In meeting the public in India would Your Holiness, please adorn a scarf made
of khadi, the hand
woven textile-material, that Mahatma Gandhi made the symbol of his esteemed
Satyagraha, the
non-violent movement that he envisaged to gain freedom and independence for
India, and indeed,
much of the supressed world, without running rivers of blood.

Yours, in greatest humility and love,
