I have raised a similar concern with them in the recent past. Please could you continue the conversation with Nitika Tandon and Vishnu? When I initiated the Konkani Wikipedia incubation process some 6-7 years ago, the vision was that it would have space for all the scripts -- because not only is there (virtually) limitless space available in cyberspace, and the Wikipedia can allow all to grow but it is only fair to encourage diversity and not stifle it (in the name of uniformity, official-script or whatever). During their visits to Goa (Nitika specially), we have made efforts to approach the Dalgado Konkani Akademi. The situation, as I see it, is a reflection of a wider problem. As the major State-run and supported institutions (Goa University, GKA) are all in Devanagari, it becomes easier to get the cooperation and numbers from them. I continue to press for a level playing field for all script groups. At the same time, I would urge you to help work out some training possibilities with Nitika and team, and also explore how the resources available in one Konkani script (or even English) can be quickly converted to Romi and Kannada-script Konkani. I'm sure if there's any institution willing, Nitika will organise trainings in Romi-script, Kannada-script and any other script of Konkani which you wish. The question is only of time and planning. Hoping we can have something positive come out of this. Best wishes, FN PS: Am copying this to two other friends who have been working hard to promote the Wikipedia in Indic languages -- Hariett Vidyasagar, who is aware of this issue (and comes from Mangalore herself), and Sunil Abraham of CIS-Bangalore, whose institution has been doing a lot of activity to make this happen. -- FN Land +91-832-240-9490 Cell +91-982-212-2436 f...@goa-india.org ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Jagotik Konknni Songhotton <jksgl...@gmail.com> Date: Wed, Sep 4, 2013 at 11:57 PM Subject: One-day Convention of Konkani writers – convened by JKS.
