PANAJI: The Food and drugs and administration (FDA) has closed down an illegal kitchen being operated from the top floor of a building along D B Road, Panaji. It was suspected that the unit was run by a caterer supplying food to one of the off shore casino operators. Salim Veljee, director, FDA said they raided the unit opposite Capt of ports office. A social activist Stephen Dias had filed the complaint with FDA. "We ordered closure of the place as they did not have a license," Veljee said. The operator also claimed that food was cooked to be supplied to casino staff. However, during inspection, it was observed that cooking was being done in a big way.
