New governors for Maharashtra, Goa, Sikkim

New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS) President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Monday appointed new
governors for the Indian states of Maharashtra, Goa and Sikkim.

Goa Governor Mohammed Fazal Mohammad was appointed governor of Maharashtra.

Sikkim Governor Kidar Nath Sahani has been transferred to Goa.

Mohammad will take charge from Justice C.L. Thakkar, chief justice of Bombay
High Court, who had been officiating as governor after P.C. Alexander
resigned his post in July.

V. Rama Rao, a former vice president of Prime Minister Atal Bihari
Vajpayee's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which heads a coalition government
in New Delhi, was appointed governor of Sikkim.
