THE MONTE MUSIC FESTIVAL has been conceived to bring together two great
musical traditions that met for the first time in Goa -- Indian and
Western.

It is being held for the first time in Goa at the Capela da Nossa Senhora
do Monte (Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount) Old Goa, the complete
restoration of which was undertaken by Fundacao Oriente.

Surrounded by a breath-taking panoramic view of Old Goa, Mandovi River,
the islands of Divar and Chorao, Ribandar and the Arabian Sea, the Monte
Music Festival will attempt to highlight the highest musical forms
produced by these two traditions, namely, Classical Western and Classical
Indian.
