I think bundling the newest 4.3 series release would be fine; I'm
running a (slightly older) 4.3 release here right now, and it's
perfectly stable, even if it is called a development release. And it
does let you use diacritics on the command line without breaking as
soon as you erase or scroll over them, which would be a big plus even
if it were a little unstable.

CJK is probably a bit far to go in one step, especially without any
native users around (that I know of?). Getting kana input in Xorg up
and running is hard enough, let alone the console.

If there's a new snapshot out in the next couple of days I'll install
it at home on my notebook over the weekend and start using it.
