For nearly two months of continuing unrest in Kashmir: people protest
against the Indian authorities, ruling the region. Anti-Indian sentiment has
long prevailed among the inhabitants of Kashmir, since they have to live
between India, the majority of citizens which Hindus, and Muslim Pakistan.

Protesters say they want to establish a separate state or join in Pakistan,
which is home to the majority of Muslims. Recent unrest in Kashmir recall
riots in New Delhi, which occurred in the late 1980's. Then in the conflict
killed 68,000 people, most of them were civilians.

During the unrest the Indian authorities imposed a formidable military force
in Kashmir, who have faced resistance from the rebels, supported by
Pakistan. Protesters were planning to organize unrest during Ramadan, in
connection with this government it was decided to introduce a curfew in some
areas of concern. Residents staged protest marches in nearly all Kashmir,
shouting slogans: "India, get out!", "We want freedom!".

According to police, four protesters were killed during the riots, which
began on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. Once one of the leaders
of the separatists Mirvayz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest by the
authorities in the town of Srinagar swept mass rallies.
