Blogborg is correct. Your link href's should not be pointing to the RESTful API 
endpoints but to your own PHP. Send a parameter, whether start or page, etc., 
which can be translated into the start parameter that the RESTful API needs to 
return the next page of results and then parse them just as you did the first 
page.
