Without seeing your Java code to know how you're building your query, etc., it's almost impossible to tell you what's going wrong. My guess would be that you need to url-encode the q parameter (and others, for that matter) which you are sending in the URL to Google. Again, that's not to say that this is your problem. It's just an educated guess based on what has caused this type of issue for myself and countless others. If it doesn't fix the problem, then we'll need to see your code so that we can see for sure what's going on. Since you're writing a Java app, do NOT post code to the group. Rather, put it on a pasting service and post the link to that service here.
