There has been no announcement regarding a successor to the Image Search API. 
That said, the deprecation policy states that Google will maintain the service 
for three years from the announcement. That means that it *should* continue to 
operate until May 2014. So we have a little time to see what Google will come 
up with next or find a suitable alternative.
