Is the feed coming back with empty title elements? If that's the case, there's very little you can do with the API itself except perhaps to parse your own title from the content property or description element. Unfortunately, in either of those cases, you'll have to do something the FeedControl won't do on its own. So you'll probably need to write your own control that would (a) include the necessary parsing in the callback and (b) request the mixed format from the API if necessary.
