Jersey (JAX-RS REST reference implementation) version 1.1.5 (trunk) works on Google App Engine (http://blogs.sun.com/sandoz/entry/ jersey_apps_can_now_be) without custom patching required. As with Restlet JAX-RS, appropriate response Providers can be easily authored as required eg. use of Google GSON for JSON Provider, which also plays nicely with the whitelist of classes.
