So far I think GAE/J has been pretty responsive to most of the defects found and request for new functionality/features.
For example you can host <yourapp>.com landing page somewhere so that it loads an image from <yourapp>.appspot.com and therefore loads your app. This way your users would see your app responsive all the time.
