Hi: I think I'm experiencing the same problem. Strangely, I'm sending unicode (spanish) characters, specially the 'ñ' (spanish N), and I receive them well in the body part but not in the subject part of the email, where they appear as a '?'. I noticed this issue http://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=2288 was created, but I'm not really sure where it targets my problem.
David, did you finally solve your problem? any ideas about this?
