This is doable. After sorting through the various forums, I decided to write a blog to put what I did all in one place. The biggest problem now appears to be startup times for your instance on App Engine resulting in timeouts. The other thing to watch is to make sure that you don't use the redirects in an irresponsible way leading to infinite loops.
