Hi, both frameworks are compatible with GAE for Java, (Struts 2 with some workarounds, not much complex). I suggest you to use the framework with which you are accustomed. I have ever used Struts 2, Spring and now I am using GWT (ultimately I have preferred this one), all of them were pretty straightforward to develop.
