Don't you mean how fast is gae at running pystone. Unfortunatley I don't see it as a good indication as to how fast it will run any gae application as such a benchmark doesn't take into account things like, network access, file I/O, datastore access etc which are all crucial to how a web app performs. In adition trying to equate a single boxes performance to the transparently scalable environment provides only makes sense in terms of measuring how fast a single operation could run and not how the different systems will perform under load. In my opinion I just don't see a lot of value in this at the moment. Maybe if you compared a range of templating systems that might be of more use, telling us how different template engines perform - mako, jinja, zpt, etc. ...
