Hi David, Just to clarify, there are several definitions of 'profane': 1. Marked by contempt or irreverence for what is sacred. 2. Nonreligious in subject matter, form, or use; secular: *sacred and profane music.* 3. Not admitted into a body of secret knowledge or ritual; uninitiated. 4. Vulgar; coarse. The Terms of Service are referring to the fourth (and most common) definition of profane - swearing, in essence. Non-religious material is, naturally, perfectly alright. :) -Nick Johnson On Thu, Oct 1, 2009 at 9:46 AM, davidgm <david.guyonmar...@gmail.com> wrote: > > Hi there, > > I've just reviewed the "Google App Engine Program Policies". > Some of the "Prohibited Content" terms seem very strange to me: > > "The Content displayed and/or processed through your Application or > other web site utilizing the Service shall not contain any of the > following types of content:" > [...] > "excessively profane content" > > I've planed to run some app completely unrelated to religion, thus > this will be 100% profane content. > I guess many apps are also completely profane, most of them, but I > didn't check actually. > I can't believe this is forbidden by Google, so there must be some > misleading words in the policies. > > How can I display and process such content without having someone > complaining that it is excessively profane? > > > -- Nick Johnson, Developer Programs Engineer, App Engine Google Ireland Ltd. :: Registered in Dublin, Ireland, Registration Number: 368047 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google App Engine" group.
