Not unless the database is on a remote server, and you do a conversion from
the SQL query to an HTTP request, and return the result via what would
essentially be a web page.

Subject: [google-appengine] MySQL in SDK

Hey everyone,

I am involved in making some relatively basic webapp examples in the
SDK (no intention of publishing these apps, they are demonstration
only) and I was wondering if in the SDK version of the app engine I
can use a relational database (MySQL) instead of the data store.

Basically, does the launcher contain code to prevent this, or am I
free to do whatever I want on my local machine?
