I have practised the above in the python code of a view class: def get(self): template_values = { } path = os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__), 'some.html') self.response.out.write(template.render(path, template_values)) self.response.headers['Content-Type'] = "text/html; charset=iso-8859-2" -- You do not have to remove the header's Content-Type from the html document for proper editing purposes in a html editor, but the line self.response.headers['Content-Type'] = "text/html; charset=iso-8859-2" has to be added after rendering of your pages to replace previous encoding.
