I hope google implements this soon. I'm launching an app which has a target market of people that most likely are not familiar with having a "Google Account". So I perceive that they would most likely have to create a new one. As you said, I also fear that I would lose those users since they get redirected to an unrelated page. I hope there's a temporary quick fix or workaround for this.
